1956 Gretsch 6128 Duo-Jet electric guitar, made in USA; Body: black finished top, natural finished back, checking to front and generally in good clean condition for age, back with finish rubbing to edges, light buckle scratching to back and other various dings; Neck: replacement neck, thought to have been carried out by Gretsch after 1958; Fretboard: ebony with late 50s style thumb inlays; Frets: refret, good; Electrics: working, original DeArmond Dynasonic pickups and 1956 dated (40th week) potentiometers, harness and solder appears untouched; Hardware: generally good, replacement neck heel cap, replacement control cavity plastics; Case: original hard case enclosing strap and two original Gretsch papers; Weight: 3.27kg; Overall condition: very good for age; *This guitar features a replacement neck and it is the opinion of several sources that this was likely carried out by Gretsch to remedy a common fault with Gretsch guitars from the period. The thumb type inlays suggest that this work would have been carried out after 1958.
