Guitar by and labelled René Lacôte, Paris, circa 1840; Back and sides: one piece back and ribs of maple, poor repaired crack in the right lower rib with a section of the wood reinserted, further repair work at the junction of the neck and body; Top: multiple black and white purfling around the edge and sound holes, pin bridge with simple moustaches, several repaird cracks to top; Neck: ebony overlaid neck and peg box, brass machine heads with shaped mother of pearl pegs; Length of back: 17 3/8", 41.1cm, case *Ivory exemption reference KB2DZW8N
