1976 John Diggins 12/6 double neck electric guitar, made in England; Body: 'Fireglo' finish, light surface marks and dings; Necks: good; Fretboards: rosewood; Electrics: working, fitted with one John Birch Biflux pickup and three John Birch Magnum pickups, additional coil switch added to circuitry; Hardware: good; Weight: 6.33kg; Overall condition: good *This John Diggins Rickenbacker style double neck guitar was made in 1976. At the time, John Diggins was employed by John Birch, but the guitar was made as an 'evening job' , not through the John Birch company (in mid 1977 John Diggins left John Birch to set up his own company Jay Dee). As can be seen, the guitar was made with John Birch pickups and bridge assemblies and was built as a stereo guitar. The guitar was made for a close friend of Jack Woodruffe, who ran probably the best guitar shop in Birmingham at the time. Later, the instrument was fitted with a switch enabling it to be played mono. The vendor bought the guitar years later from Musical Exchanges in Birmingham and, having discovered a fault with the wiring, took the guitar to John Diggins who remembered it well and told him the history. The fault was a bad connection to the mono switch, the only part that happened not to be John's work and was duly fixed properly/ Thus, the guitar is not a John Birch but a direct ancestor to the Jay Dee company
