Rare 19th century English guitar by Thomas Howell, branded '(crown)/patent/t.Howell/inventor/Bristol' also bearing two Howell labels to the inner back, one inscribed '1839' in ink; Back and Sides: rosewood, small cleated repair to back; Top: fine grain spruce; Neck: mahogany; Fretboard: rosewood; Frets: good, glass construction; Case: contemporary acoustic hard case; Overall condition: good * A rare guitar with interesting internal construction with two longitudinal floating soundbars and frets made of glass. The British patent number 6964 was taken out by Thomas Howell in 1835
