Rare and important guitar attributed to Matteo Sellas, Venice circa 1640, the back formed of twenty-five strips of yew and the sides of ebony inlaid with ivory, the spruce top with numerous floral inlays and the rosette consisting of two intersecting squares of ebony and ivory, the fretboard bearing cartouches of engraved ivory and the back richly decorated with interlaced ivory and ebony geometric inlay, total length 98cm, string length 71cm, length of back 49.5cm
