1969 Gibson Les Paul Custom left-handed electric guitar, made in USA, ser. no. 8xxxx8; Finish: black, lacquer checking, buckle rash and many further blemishes; Fretboard: ebony, over-lacquered; Frets: low (Fretless Wonder) visible wear; Electrics: working, bridge pickup cover removed; Hardware: typical wear to all gold plate, stop bar very worn, missing one screw to neck pickup surround, bridge pickup surround damaged on the treble side where the pickup height adjustment screw sits, small metal disc currently sitting underneath the pickup to hold it in place, pickup height screws replaced; Case: original hard case; Other: neck re-profiled and over-lacquered in the early 1970s by John Birch; Overall condition: fair

*This guitar was purchased by the vendor in 1974. The previous owner reputedly purchased the guitar from Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, although there is no documentation to prove this. There is a very faint ‘Black Sabbath’ stencil to the case exterior
