452 :: Jimi Hendrix - handwritten letter by Jimi Hendrix, circa 1968, inscribed '...Dennis, we are all having a blast out here, the water is beautiful and the sand is hot, haha - you should be here, Mitch is sick though, he ate something on the plane, didn't agree, sleeping a lot, the tour is Heck-Tick! but groovy. Noel says hello and cheers! See you soon, the best from Jimi Hendrix and THE EXPERIENCE' * Acquired by the vendor whilst at Liverpool University, circa 1979. Sold with a letter of provenance from the vendor which states: 'I purchased the letter in either 1978 or 1979 (I cannot be precise but know it was one of these years due to being a university student at the time) from a record store in Liverpool called AliBaba records. I became very friendly with the owner, who himself was a Beatles 'fanatic' and had an amazing collection of signed programmes etc from many artists that he collected over the previous 15 years, when major artists came to the city and played the Liverpool Empire. It took me a long time to persuade him to sell me the letter and I know it cost me a fortune at the time, many months of my student 'grant'. I have retained the letter ever since in a temperature-controlled environment It is difficult to be precise as to when the letter was written but I suspect it was during the American tour of 1968 or possibly when the band stayed in Majorca in July 1968, when they visited the island to open a bar run by Mike Jeffrey and Chas Chandler The vendor, a self confessed Jimi Hendrix fan, the vendor gained connections with Hendrix authors such as Tony Brown and Harry Shapiro, culminating in being asked to work on the second edition of the biography 'Electric Gypsy', for which he received a credit in the book. Over the decades, he has owned many fully authenticated items such as autographs, clothing, and items from his New York flat
