1962 Fender Stratocaster electric guitar, made in USA, ser. no. 8xxx3; Body: sunburst finish with various imperfections as consistent for the age, four small repaired holes to the back (left over from a Perspex plate that was used to protect the finish), unusual areas of refinish on the body between the neck plate and neck as well as a dark area in the arm position which can be seen under UV light (possibly related to repair the holes on the back of the body); Neck: maple, light wear, October '62 date stamp; Fretboard: rosewood; Frets: good, Fender factory re-fret; Electrics: working, appear original, '62 potentiometer date stamps; Hardware: good; Case: original Selmer hard case; Weight: 3.49kg; Overall condition: good for age *Formerly owned by Mark Griffiths, best known as the most recent bassist for The Shadows. Purchased new by Mark's father from Selmer, Charing Cross Road, London in 1962/63. Mark had the guitar re-fretted at the Fender factory in Fullerton in the 1980s which was overseen by the late Dan Smith Ex lot 31, The Mark Griffiths Collection, Gardiner Houlgate, 15th June 2017 and sold with the original certificate of authenticity from the sale Sold with CITES non-transferable A10 certificate no. 624369/01
