Late 1960s Gibson SG left-handed electric guitar, made in USA, possibly an SG Junior conversion, ser. no. 5xxxx6; Body: cherry finish, new rout to house neck pickup, bridge pickup rout enlarged, original stop bar holes filled and re-drilled for tunomatic bridge; Neck: minor dings but generally good; Fretboard: rosewood; Frets: mild wear; Electrics: working, 1972 Gibson Patent number embossed logo pickups installed, one potentiometer dating to 1965, the others replacements; Hardware: correct type and shape but probably non-original pickguard, neck pickup surround damaged, later knobs, later bridge posts installed, Gibson Patent number Tune-o-matic bridge, later stop bar and posts; Case: period correct fitted Gibson SG hard case; Weight: 3.44kg; Overall condition: good for age *An unusual 1960s modified Gibson SG electric guitar that can only have started life as an SG Junior or an SG Special model. Whilst the pickup cavities under the guard would suggest that this was originally a single pickup guitar, the control cavity does not look to have been adapted/enlarged to house extra pots and switch. Evidence under the guard suggests that this guitar originally had a wraparound stop bar only with no evidence to the front of the body that there was also a vibrato in place. The earliest dating part of the guitar is the one 1965 potentiometer, the serial number suggests a date of 1969 and the later pickups which date to 1972.
