John Entwistle - owned and used 1974 Guild Starfire II SFB2 hollow body bass guitar, made in USA, ser. no. 101157; Body: blonde finish, buckle blemish and marks to back, further minor dings; Neck: mahogany, minor checking and a few minor dings; Fretboard: rosewood; Frets: mild wear; Electrics: working; Hardware: generally good; Case: original hard case; Overall condition: good *Truss rod cover inscribed 'John Entwhistle'. Sold with original hang tags, including a price tag from The Bass Centre inscribed 'Used! Guild, Semi, Ex-Entwistle'. Sold with a letter of authenticity from The Bass Centre, 9th July 2002, stating that this guitar was sold in the late 1980s on behalf of John Entwistle. The Bass Centre were commission by Entwistle to sell approximately 30 basses from his collection through their Wapping, London store. Also included is another letter from Music Ground, dated 11th July 2002, confirming the bass was formerly property of the late John Entwistle of The Who. The truss rod cover inscribed 'John Entwhistle' presents a typo in the surname. The truss rod cover appears to be factory engraved for the artist. The above facts have been confirmed with GH by Barry Moorehouse at The Bass Centre.
