Five course lute guitar converted from a German lute, circa 1750 probably in France, the head with shaped outline bearing ten tuning pegs, the ebony fingerboard with tied frets and six ebony frets onto the table, the back of the neck inlaid with opposing ebony and ivory trapezoid decoration running into the back of the head, the stained bowl back of eleven ribs, the spruce top with ebony and ivory trapezoid inlay to the edges, the wraparound bridge flanked by scroll moustaches, the sound hole with scratch carved surround and with inset pierced gilt fretwork rose
