Ten string lute guitar, converted from a German lute circa 1750, probably in France, the head with shaped outline bearing ten tuning pegs, the ebony fingerboard with adjustable gut frets and six ebony frets running onto the table, the back of the neck inlaid with opposing ebony and ivory trapezoid decoration running into the back of the head, the stained bowl back of eleven sections, the spruce top with ebony and ivory trapezoid inlay to the edges, the wraparound bridge flanked by shallow fretwork scrolls, the sound hole with scratch carved surround and inset with a gilt fretwork panel
