Perry Archangelo Bamonte

A selection of guitars from his collection

Perry Archangelo Bamonte, born 3rd September 1960, in London, England, is a musician best known for his work with The Cure.

Perry first joined The Cure as a guitar tech in 1984, later being escalated to playing keyboards, replacing Roger O’Donnell who abruptly quit after the 1990 Prayer tour. Following the departure of Porl Thompson in 1993, Perry was the obvious choice to step in and take up the role of playing dual lead guitar alongside Robert Smith.

During his time with The Cure, he helped produce the albums Wish, Wild Mood Swings, Bloodflowers, and The Cure. He is credited for writing the music for the songs “Trust” from Wish, “This Is a Lie” from Wild Mood Swings, and “Anniversary” from The Cure. He also appeared on the live albums Paris and Show as well as Trilogy.
Having been part of The Cure’s line up during their most prominent touring years, Perry left the band in 2005.

In September 2012, Perry joined as bassist for English Super-group Love Amongst Ruin, fronted by former Placebo drummer Steve Hewitt. He appears on their second album Lose Your Way.

Gardiner Houlgate are delighted to offer 28 guitars from Perry’s collection, many of which he used in prominent live shows and in the studio. Included are a selection of Schecter guitars, which are one offs, made for Perry during The Cure’s endorsement.
